TempoGrip is an iPhone app for drummer-focused practice. It helps you review tempo changes during a performance and revisit recordings and tempo trends by take. The app is in development and is being prepared for a general release. This page explains the test version and the planned offering.

1. Compatibility and availability

TempoGrip is intended for iPhone. The current test version requires iOS 26.2 or later. iPad and Mac versions are outside the current scope. A general App Store release has not been announced.

2. Record and review a take

  1. Start from `Quick` without selecting a song, or add a song name and `Target BPM` in `Songs`.
  2. Check the Target BPM and start recording. Microphone access is required.
  3. Observe the tempo and waveform while playing, then stop the recording.
  4. Play the saved take in Replay and review the recording alongside its tempo trend. You can also revisit takes through songs and setlists.

Sharing starts from a saved take. It passes an audio file, or a Music package containing the recording and tempo data, to the system share sheet. Check the destination before sharing.

3. If tempo is missing or unstable

Tempo is estimated from the microphone input. Device placement, volume, surrounding sounds, other instruments, and missing drum hits can affect the result. Some sections may not be acquired. The app does not always identify a complete song's BPM or time signature correctly.

  • Check microphone permission, connected input equipment, and the recorded sound.
  • Try a short performance under consistent conditions, with the device positioned to pick up the drums.
  • Check that Target BPM matches your intended reference.
  • After silence or missing hits, acquisition can take time. A section without a tempo display is not a successfully measured section.

Accuracy with real performances remains under evaluation. Use the display as an aid while listening back to the recording.

4. Free use and Pro

The adopted release plan is to offer basic features for free and unlock Pro with a one-time purchase. Monthly and yearly plans will not be adopted going forward. The one-time price and detailed Free/Pro boundaries remain undecided and will be announced after they are finalized.

The test version still contains product displays and purchase paths from the earlier design. If the purchase screen differs from this guidance, do not proceed with the purchase; contact support. This page does not finalize prices or purchase conditions.

5. Contact support

Use TOMOSHIBI APPS Contact and start your message with “TempoGrip.” If TempoGrip is not in the app selector, choose “TOMOSHIBI APPS site.” Provide reply details in the form if you need a response.
